Chelsea Eyeing Brazilian Wonderkid, Estevao Willian, as January Bid Looms
Chelsea are reportedly preparing a move for Palmeiras’ teenage sensation Estevão Willian as they continue their aggressive pursuit of top young talents. The 16-year-old Brazilian winger has been making waves in South America, drawing comparisons to Lionel Messi due to his dribbling ability, pace, and technical flair.
According to sources, the Blues are closely monitoring Estevão’s development and could make a formal bid during the January transfer window. The youngster, also known as Messinho, has already attracted interest from several European giants, including Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain. However, Chelsea’s track record of signing and developing young South American stars, such as Andrey Santos and Kendry Páez, could give them an edge in securing his signature.
Palmeiras have placed a €60 million release clause on Estevão, though negotiations could see Chelsea attempt to structure a deal similar to their recent signings—offering an initial fee with performance-based add-ons. Due to FIFA rules, Estevão would only be able to move to Europe when he turns 18 in 2025, meaning Chelsea would have to agree on a deal now and wait for his arrival, as they did with Páez and Santos.
The teenager has already showcased his immense talent in Palmeiras’ youth ranks and Brazil’s U17 squad, where he played a key role in their 2023 U17 World Cup campaign. His skill set includes explosive dribbling, creativity, and a lethal left foot, making him a highly sought-after prospect.
Chelsea’s long-term vision under Todd Boehly has seen them prioritize young talents, and Estevão could be the next major addition to their youth-focused project. With the January transfer window approaching, the Blues are expected to intensify their pursuit, though they will face stiff competition from other European heavyweights.
As Chelsea continue their recruitment drive for the stars of tomorrow, Estevão Willian remains firmly on their radar—potentially becoming their latest South American coup.
