Netflix to Release New Documentary on Legendary Guitarist Ian Bairnson

Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a documentary dedicated to the life and legacy of Ian Bairnson, the celebrated Scottish guitarist known for his work with The Alan Parsons Project and Pilot, among others. The documentary is expected to delve deep into Bairnson’s influential career, his signature guitar style, and the lasting impact he had on progressive rock and pop music from the 1970s onward.

Bairnson, who passed away in 2023, was revered for his melodic sensibility and technical skill. He gained international recognition as a founding member of Pilot, where he played on the band’s 1974 hit “Magic.” His reputation soared further through his longtime collaboration with producer Alan Parsons. Notably, his guitar solo on “Sirius/Eye in the Sky” became one of the most iconic instrumental moments in rock history.
