Crypta Bassist Tainá Bergamaschi Dies While on Tour
São Paulo, April 19, 2025 — Tragedy has struck the Brazilian death metal community as Tainá Bergamaschi, the bassist of all-female death metal band Crypta, has died while on tour. The news was confirmed by the band in a heartfelt social media post earlier today, prompting an outpouring of grief from fans and fellow musicians alike.
According to the official statement, Bergamaschi passed away unexpectedly while the band was in the midst of their European tour promoting their latest album Shades of Sorrow. Details surrounding her death have not been publicly disclosed, out of respect for her family’s privacy during this difficult time.
Formed in 2019 by former members of Nervosa, Crypta quickly gained a global following for their aggressive sound, technical prowess, and dynamic stage presence. Bergamaschi joined the band in its formative years and played a pivotal role in shaping its distinct sound. Her commanding bass lines and fierce energy on stage became a defining aspect of the band’s performances.
In their statement, the remaining members of Crypta expressed profound sorrow, describing Bergamaschi not just as a talented musician, but as “a sister and an irreplaceable part of the Crypta family.” They thanked fans for their support and requested privacy as they come to terms with the loss.
The metal community has reacted with shock and sadness. Prominent figures from bands such as Nervosa, Sepultura, and Arch Enemy have posted tributes online, praising Bergamaschi’s talent and spirit. Concert venues across Europe have also shared condolences, with several planning moments of silence during upcoming events.
It remains uncertain whether Crypta will continue the remainder of their tour or cancel upcoming performances. A spokesperson for the band’s label has said that further updates will be provided in the coming days.
Tainá Bergamaschi’s contribution to extreme metal will be remembered for years to come. Her legacy lives on in the music she helped create and the inspiration she gave to a new generation of musicians—especially women in metal.
She was 29.
