Netflix to Release Documentary on Life of Legendary Actress Jaclyn Smith

Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a new documentary centered on the life and career of Jaclyn Smith, the celebrated actress best known for her role in the original Charlie’s Angels television series. The documentary promises an in-depth look at Smith’s journey through Hollywood, offering fans a rare glimpse behind the scenes of her decades-long career.

Titled Jaclyn Smith: Angel and Icon, the film will trace her rise to fame in the 1970s, her groundbreaking role as Kelly Garrett, and her subsequent work in film, television, and fashion. According to Netflix, the documentary will feature exclusive interviews, archival footage, and personal reflections from Smith herself, as well as appearances by co-stars, directors, and industry peers who have worked closely with her over the years.

The project is being produced by Imagine Documentaries and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Lisa D’Apolito, known for Love, Gilda, a documentary on comedian Gilda Radner. Speaking on the production, D’Apolito said the film will explore not only Smith’s Hollywood career but also her role as a trailblazer in the business of celebrity branding, notably her long-running clothing and home collections with Kmart.

Jaclyn Smith became a household name during the late 1970s, and unlike many of her contemporaries, she successfully transitioned from screen to business while maintaining her image as one of television’s most enduring icons. The documentary is expected to shed light on both her public persona and her private resilience, including her battle with breast cancer and her philanthropic work.

Netflix has not yet confirmed an exact release date but stated the documentary will premiere later this year as part of its expanded slate of biographical and celebrity-centered programming.
