Brock Purdy, the 49ers quarterback, has reportedly secured a national endorsement deal with Toyota, the auto brand known for its “Let’s go places” slogan, as per sports business reporter Darren Rovell.
Purdy is said to be the initial active NFL player to strike a deal with the company since sealing its official vehicle sponsorship agreement in October. Before this, he collaborated with the company on a “Tackle Anything” ad campaign alongside Northern California Toyota Dealers in September. Purdy later confessed that he was still cruising in his reliable Toyota Sequoia SUV.
The 24-year-old is a perfect representative to align with the team’s motto, given the significant strides he’s made in his career on the field.
Less than two years after being selected with the last pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Purdy has guided the 49ers to the Super Bowl. He also was named a Pro Bowl selection and one of five MVP finalists for the 2023 NFL season after throwing for 4,280 passing yards and 31 touchdowns.
Purdy’s stats don’t match the numbers expected from a player given the annual draft-day moniker “Mr. Irrelevant,” but his paycheck sure does. He has an average annual salary of $934,252 after signing a four-year, $3.7 million deal, according to Spotrac.
Now he’s got a new side gig. And it’s not his first.
Purdy’s endorsement collaborations extend to major brands like Alaska Airlines, granting priority boarding to fans donning his jersey. Additionally, Buffalo Wild Wings featured him serving “Purdy Great Burgers” during the NFL draft. As his profile continues to soar, it’s anticipated that further lucrative partnerships will unfold in the dynamic world of NFL endorsements.
