Liverpool suffer major injury blow ahead of Arsenal game as star left Anfield in a protective ‘boot’

Liverpool have been dealt a massive injury blow ahead of their crunch Premier League clash against Arsenal on Sunday.

League leaders Liverpool travel to third-placed Arsenal in a game that holds huge title implications.

Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently five points clear of Mikel Arteta’s team in the league.

But the German boss has suffered a major injury blow ahead of facing the Gunners.

Klopp has revealed that Darwin Nunez left Anfield on Wednesday in a protective boot and is a doubt for Sunday’s trip.

“A little side story, which you probably didn’t know: I don’t know if Darwin is available or not,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“Because Darwin had, after 20 minutes, somebody stepped on his foot. It was very painful after the game.
Nunez started his side’s 4-1 victory over Chelsea in midweek as he fluffed his lines from the penalty spot, drawing blank in the game.

But he grabbed an assist, setting up Luis Diaz’s goal in their win and even made Premier League history.

The Uruguayan has scored seven league goals in 21 appearances and 11 goals across all competitions this season.

Liverpool head to the Emirates having already won there following their 2-0 victory in the FA Cup last month.

On what he learned from the fixture, Klopp said: “We have to be much more dominant, in possession it was a typical away game. We had a few problems, it was a cup game, but everyone knows Arsenal could’ve scored before we did.

“I would prefer us to have more moments where we are in charge.

“I try to give the boys the right information that we can just be better, be more in the game.”
