Unbelievable Nottingham Forest’s Hidden Gem: The Future Million-Dollar Sensation!
After such a quiet January transfer window, it is going to be fascinating to see what a lot of clubs do at the end of the season. And Mikel Arteta’s men are one of those seemingly making plans already.
Arsenal are monitoring Nottingham Forest defender Murillo, who has been exceptional since his £15 million move to the City Ground.
Of course, Forest were hit with a points deduction this week. And a report from The Telegraph reports that they will have to bring in funds before the end of June to comply with Profitability and Sustainability Rules.
Nevertheless, Forest are not going to make it easy for clubs to poach their best players. And The Telegraph claims that Nuno Espirito Santo’s men will demand record sums for the likes of Murillo and Morgan Gibbs-White.
In fact, Forest reportedly believe that Murillo could be worth £70 million in the future.
Nottingham Forest think Arsenal target Murillo could be worth £70 million
In truth, it would be a big surprise if Arsenal were prepared to spend so much on Murillo. The 21-year-old only arrived in England in August last year. And given his age, there are question marks over how good he will become in the years to come.
Valuation surely makes Emirates move unlikely this summer
But if they rate Murillo so highly, it is hard to imagine that they will be prepared to compromise on their asking price. Ultimately, they need to leave themselves with a squad good enough to stay up, provided that they remain at English football’s top table this year.
Arsenal meanwhile, already have a number of options at centre-back. And Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have formed one of the best partnerships in the division, if not the best. So Murillo would have to be patient if he joined the Gunners.
With that, it may be unlikely should Forest manage to stay up. But perhaps the situation could change if they are unable to get themselves out of the bottom three.
