Finally, Nottingham Forest signed £10 million which fans will like.

There is “tension” between Nottingham Forest and their council but they can move ahead with stadium plans if they accept a £10million freehold deal.

That is the view of finance expert Kieran Maguire, who exclusively told Football Insider that Forest would lose valuable transport and cultural links if they choose to move away from the City Ground.
Forest are currently in talks with the Nottingham City Council over the future of the City Ground and potential stadium expansion.

As revealed by Football Insider, Forest chiefs are in a “civil war” over the stadium decision with some staff preferring a move away to Toton.

Forest have been offered a £250million land lease for 250 years (£1million per year) or the freehold of the City Ground for £10million.

Maguire believes fans would prefer to stay at the City Ground and explained that the freehold offer would allow the club to continue with their current stadium expansion plans.

There has a lot of tension between Nottingham Forest and their local council.

“For some time there’s been gunboat diplomacy from both sides over the club’s stadium plans.

But the benefits of Forest being offered the freehold or a 250-year lease means that the club – should it choose to take up that offer – will be able to plan ahead in terms of the stadium development.

“I imagine that this would be the preferred option of fans, compared to an out-of-town stadium which loses transport and cultural links.“
