Could This Quarterback’s Career Be Revived by a New Start in a Familiar City?

One of the smaller, yet more significant moves of the NFL offseason was when the Pittsburgh Steelers traded former first-round quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Pickett, who was not interested in being in a quarterback battle with new free-agent signee Russell Wilson, will now be the backup to Pro-Bowl starter Jalen Hurts.

Pickett recently sat down with NBC Philadelphia to chat about how his time with the Eagles has gone so far.

“It’s been great…The communication back and forth in the quarterback room has been awesome…The talent around this team is pretty special,” Pickett said.

Pickett will provide head coach Nick Sirianni with some solid veteran experience behind Hurts.

The former Pittsburgh Panther didn’t have the best run with the Steelers, but he does bring over nearly 25 starts.

He also guided the Steelers to multiple winning seasons with him on the field.

At the same time, he didn’t throw for many touchdowns (13), and he also threw 13 interceptions in two years.

Perhaps he is best as a backup, which is not bad at all.

Hurts is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and has guided the Eagles to three consecutive playoff appearances, along with a Super Bowl appearance in 2022.

In his four-year career, he has played just one full season, so bringing in Pickett, some veteran insurance, isn’t a bad move at all.

The Eagles will look to have a better season in 2024 after losing in the first round of the playoffs to the Bucs last year.
