LOCKED AND LOADED: “SEAL Team Season 7 Release Date Confirmed!”
SEAL Team Season 7 Release Date Confirmed.
SEAL Team was originally poised for a franchise expansion with a movie, but the movie was canceled.
It’s unlikely that SEAL Team will get a spinoff show or any kind of continuation after season 7.
SEAL Team season 7 now officially has a release date. First airing in 2017 on CBS, SEAL Team follows an elite group of operators, led by David Boreanaz’s Jason Hayes, as they conduct various high-stakes missions around the globe. After moving to Paramount Plus in the middle of season 5, season 6 returned to screens in 2022. Now, SEAL Team season 7 has been confirmed to serve as the action series’ final outing.
With the release of a new trailer for the show’s final adventure, Paramount Plus now confirms that SEAL Team season 7 will premiere on August 11, 2024.
The first two episodes of season 7 will be available on August 11, with the remaining eight episodes releasing weekly on Sundays. The finale will bring the series to a close on October 6.
Could SEAL Team Continue In Another Form After Season 7?
Why The SEAL Team Movie Was Cancelled
In 2022, not long after SEAL Team moved to Paramount, the company announced that a standalone movie was in development. This movie was designed to expand the world of the show while telling a standalone story. TVLine then reported in November 2023 that the movie had been canceled as Paramount decided that SEAL Team season 7 would end the series.
This change of direction is seemingly due to larger changes in the streaming landscape. Streamers that had previously been investing millions into bolstering their content libraries began to pull back on this initiative in recent years, instead focusing on achieving profitability. SEAL Team’s viewership figures were evidently strong enough at one point to justify further franchise expansion, but it seems that this is no longer the case. If a standalone movie is now off the table, it seems unlikely a spinoff series will be getting the green light.
Those who enjoy Boreanaz’s leading performance are in luck, however, as the actor recently revealed that he’s already hard at work developing a new series as SEAL Team approaches its end. Story details for Boreanaz’s new show haven’t yet been revealed, but if it gets picked up, the actor could remain a key figure on the small screen in the years ahead. While many questions remain about SEAL Team season 7, audiences, at the very least, now have a firm release date for the show’s final outing.
SEAL Team is a Military Drama and Action series created by Benjamin Cavell that began in 2017 and has been through 6 seasons. The series follows Jason Hayes (played by David Boreanaz) as the leader of a Navy Seals team who is sent to a variety of locations to help protect the United States.
