Breaking news: David Gilmour States He Will Not Perform with Roger Waters Again … Read more
Gilmour and Waters were key forces behind Pink Floyd’s success during the 1970s, particularly with iconic albums like *The Dark Side of the Moon* and *The Wall*. However, the relationship between the two soured during the late 1970s and early 1980s, leading to Waters’ departure from the band in 1985. Although Gilmour, along with other members of Pink Floyd, continued to release music under the band’s name, Waters pursued a solo career, often criticizing his former bandmates.
In interviews, Gilmour has spoken candidly about the deep-rooted issues between him and Waters, noting that their working relationship had become untenable due to creative clashes and personal grievances. Gilmour has also emphasized that their musical visions have diverged significantly, making any collaboration highly unlikely. Despite a brief reunion for the Live 8 concert in 2005, where Gilmour, Waters, and other surviving members of Pink Floyd performed together, the event appears to have been a rare exception rather than a sign of reconciliation.
While Waters has occasionally expressed interest in performing with Gilmour again, Gilmour’s stance remains firm. He has repeatedly stated that he sees no need for a reunion and prefers to focus on his solo work and other projects.
For Pink Floyd fans, Gilmour’s statement marks the end of an era. Although the two artists’ individual contributions to music remain significant, the chances of them sharing a stage again have effectively been put to rest.
