Breaking news:Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour rejects Roger Waters reunion over support for ‘genocidal dictators’….

David Gilmour, the guitarist of the legendary band Pink Floyd, has rejected the idea of reuniting with his former bandmate Roger Waters due to Waters’ controversial political views. Gilmour’s decision comes after a long-standing feud between the two musicians, who have had numerous disagreements since Waters left the band in the 1980s. Gilmour cited Waters’ recent statements that seemed to express support for figures and regimes that Gilmour described as “genocidal dictators” as a key reason for ruling out any reunion.

In the past, Waters has been outspoken on a number of political issues, often stirring controversy. His positions, particularly on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and his criticisms of Western governments, have been divisive. Waters has faced backlash for comments that some interpreted as antisemitic, although he has repeatedly denied these accusations, maintaining that his criticisms are directed at governments rather than ethnic groups.

The tension between Waters and Gilmour has been well-documented over the years, with creative and personal differences contributing to their split. Waters was instrumental in shaping the band’s sound in the 1970s, particularly on albums like  The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon, but his departure led to a rift with Gilmour that has never fully healed.

Despite sporadic reunions over the years for charity events, the two have largely pursued solo careers.

Gilmour’s firm stance against reuniting with Waters reflects the depth of their ideological and personal differences, with Gilmour unwilling to overlook what he sees as Waters’ dangerous political sympathies. Fans of Pink Floyd may have to abandon hope of seeing the two icons together on stage again.
