Celtic Soul: Van Morrison tribute band to keep on gigging after passing of lead singer….
Celtic Soul, the renowned Van Morrison tribute band, has announced it will continue to perform following the unexpected passing of its beloved frontman, Tony Tyson. The news comes as both a tribute and a commitment to the late singer’s legacy, whose soulful voice and commanding stage presence brought the spirit of Van Morrison to audiences across the UK and Ireland for over a decade.
Tyson, who passed away earlier this year after a short illness, had been the heartbeat of Celtic Soul since its inception. Known for his uncanny vocal resemblance to Van Morrison and his deep passion for the music, he helped build a loyal fanbase and earned praise from critics and even Van Morrison fans themselves. His performances captured not only the sound but the essence of Morrison’s timeless songs such as “Moondance,” “Brown Eyed Girl,” and “Into the Mystic.”
Band members shared the news in a heartfelt social media post, saying, “Tony’s energy, humour, and musicality will be impossible to replace. But we know he would want the music to live on. Celtic Soul was never just one person—it’s a shared love of the songs and the stories behind them.”
After much reflection, the band has decided to continue gigging with a new lead vocalist, who will be announced in the coming weeks. While fans can expect the same classic setlists, the band acknowledges that things will feel different without Tony at the helm. “It won’t be the same—but it will still be real, honest music made with love, just as Tony would’ve wanted,” the statement continued.
Tribute concerts are being planned in memory of Tyson, with proceeds supporting local music charities—another nod to his legacy of nurturing musical talent and community.
Celtic Soul’s next performance is scheduled for early summer, marking a new chapter while honouring the soul that led them for so many years. Fans are encouraged to come out, raise a glass, and keep the music playing.
