DAVID GAUDU ON TADEJ POGACAR: “99% OF THE TEAMS THINK HE’S GOING TO WIN”….

French cyclist David Gaudu recently offered high praise for Tadej Pogačar, acknowledging the Slovenian’s dominance in the peloton. In a candid interview ahead of a major race, Gaudu commented on Pogačar’s status as the favorite in almost every competition he enters. “99% of the teams think he’s going to win,” Gaudu said, illustrating just how formidable Pogačar has become.

Pogačar’s ability to excel in both Grand Tours and one-day classics has made him a nearly unbeatable force, and his rivals recognize that. Gaudu, who has frequently competed against Pogačar, spoke about the psychological impact that the Slovenian’s presence has on the peloton. “When Pogačar is in the race, you know it’s going to be tough,” Gaudu admitted. “He’s always there, pushing the limits, and making it hard for everyone else.”

Pogačar’s extraordinary physical abilities, including his climbing prowess and time-trialing skills, make him a complete rider capable of winning on any terrain. Gaudu also pointed out that Pogačar’s tactical intelligence and fearlessness in attacking from long distances put him in a class of his own. Whether it’s the Tour de France or Monument races like Il Lombardia, Pogačar often enters as the overwhelming favorite, and his competitors must plan their race strategies around him.

Despite Pogačar’s dominance, Gaudu remains determined to challenge him in upcoming races. “He’s tough to beat, but he’s not unbeatable,” Gaudu said. “You have to be smart and wait for your moment, but if you’re in top form, anything is possible.”

Gaudu’s respect for Pogačar is clear, but so is his desire to compete at the highest level. As the 2024 season progresses, many riders, including Gaudu, will be looking for ways to disrupt Pogačar’s reign, though they know the task won’t be easy.
