David Gilmourđź’• family …

David Gilmour is a renowned British musician, best known as the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of the legendary rock band Pink Floyd. Gilmour’s family life has been relatively private, but his personal relationships have been an important part of his story, both on and off the stage.

David Gilmour was born on March 6, 1946, in Cambridge, England, to Douglas Gilmour, a senior industrial administrator, and Sylvia, a teacher. He had a comfortable upbringing in a middle-class family, which helped him pursue his musical interests. His early life was marked by a deep passion for music, which eventually led him to study at the Cambridgeshire College of Arts and Technology.

Gilmour’s family has been a central part of his life. He has been married twice. His first marriage was to English writer and author, Virginia “Ginny” Gilmour (nĂ©e Haseltine), in 1975. The couple had four children together: Alice, Clare, Sarah, and Matthew. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in divorce in 1990. Despite the split, Gilmour remained close to his children, and they are often mentioned in interviews as an important part of his life.

In 1994, David Gilmour married Polly Samson, an English novelist and lyricist, who had worked with him on some of his solo projects. Polly and David have two children together: a son named Charlie, and a daughter, Romany. Polly is known for contributing lyrics to Pink Floyd’s final studio album The Division Bell, and she has collaborated with Gilmour on several of his solo ventures. Their bond has been a source of inspiration for much of his later work.

Throughout his career, Gilmour has maintained a relatively low public profile when it comes to his personal life, preferring to focus on his music. However, his relationships, particularly with Polly Samson, have been a key part of his personal fulfillment and creativity. Gilmour’s family continues to be an important part of his life, and his children have sometimes made appearances at his concerts or public events.
