Eli Tomac Provides Injury Update Ahead of 2025 Season
Eli Tomac, a prominent figure in professional motocross and supercross, has provided an update on his condition following a recent injury. During the qualifying session at the Tampa Supercross on February 8, 2025, Tomac suffered an incident that initially appeared to result in a bruised calf and sprained ankle. Demonstrating remarkable determination, he competed that evening, finishing seventh in his heat race and securing five points with a 17th-place finish in the main event. However, after experiencing persistent pain, further medical evaluation revealed a broken fibula. Consequently, Tomac will be sidelined for the upcoming rounds of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross to focus on recovery.
Reflecting on the injury, Tomac stated, “Unfortunately, this was more than an ankle sprain and a bruised calf. After two days of pain not improving, I got additional scans on my leg, and I do have a broken fibula. This is such a bummer as I’ve never felt better on the motorcycle in Supercross and getting a win at San Diego was great. I don’t have an exact timeframe of recovery at this time but will be working to come back as soon as possible.”
This setback comes as Tomac had announced that the 2025 season would be his final full year of professional SuperMotocross racing. He had re-signed with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, expressing his intent to make a strong final run. “I anticipate 2025 being my final full season of professional SMX racing,” Tomac remarked.
Despite this injury, Tomac’s commitment to the sport and his fans remains unwavering. He is focusing on a full recovery with the aim of returning to competition as soon as possible. The motocross community eagerly awaits his return, hopeful to see him back on the track later this season.
