Eli Tomac shared his thoughts on racing against Tim Gajser during the first moto at the Motocross of Nations (MXoN), describing the intensity and thrill of the battle. Reflecting on the race, Tomac admitted, “It was scary. It was a bummer though because I was making a good push to Gajser.” Tomac, known for his aggressive riding style and ability to close gaps quickly, was putting pressure on Gajser, the Slovenian motocross star and multi-time world champion.

Tomac had been chasing Gajser hard, gaining momentum as the race progressed. The two riders were locked in a high-speed battle, with Gajser managing to fend off Tomac’s advances. The intensity of their duel was palpable, as both riders pushed their limits on a challenging track. “I was really feeling good and gaining ground,” Tomac said, reflecting on his strategy to close the gap and potentially overtake Gajser.

Unfortunately for Tomac, the bummer came when an unexpected mishap disrupted his rhythm. While he didn’t go into detail about the specific incident, his frustration was clear. He had been on a strong run and felt confident that he could challenge Gajser for the lead. However, the momentum he had built was lost, and the opportunity to overtake Gajser slipped away.

Despite the setback, Tomac praised Gajser for his performance, recognizing the Slovenian’s ability to maintain his composure under pressure. “Gajser is always tough to race against. He doesn’t make many mistakes,” Tomac acknowledged, showing respect for his competitor’s skill and resilience.

The race against Gajser in the first moto of MXoN was a reminder of the fine margins in motocross, where split-second decisions and unexpected events can make or break a rider’s chances. Although Tomac was disappointed with the outcome, his determination and competitive spirit remain as strong as ever, as he continues to push himself in the pursuit of motocross glory.
