‘I finished the season as I started it’ – Tadej Pogačar celebrates season of dominance at Il Lombardia….

Tadej Pogačar capped off an extraordinary season by winning his third consecutive Il Lombardia title, further solidifying his reputation as one of cycling’s greats. In 2023, Pogačar enjoyed a year marked by consistency and dominance across multiple races, but his victory in the 2024 edition of Il Lombardia felt like a fitting bookend to a campaign that began with similar brilliance.

Reflecting on his season, Pogačar remarked, “I finished the season as I started it,” underscoring his remarkable ability to maintain form throughout the year. His triumph at Il Lombardia was a statement of both physical and tactical prowess, as he managed to outclass a strong field of competitors on the demanding climbs of northern Italy. The 24-year-old Slovenian showcased his familiar attacking style, breaking away in the latter stages of the race to secure a solo victory.

Pogačar’s success in 2024 was not limited to one-day races. He shone in the early season, winning classic races and achieving podium finishes in Grand Tours. His aggressive and fearless riding style, coupled with his resilience and consistency, made him a force to be reckoned with in any race he entered. Despite narrowly missing out on victory at the Tour de France, where he finished second behind Jonas Vingegaard, Pogačar demonstrated his versatility by claiming victories in multiple stage races and monuments.

As he celebrated his Il Lombardia victory, Pogačar hinted that his focus would soon shift to the challenges of 2025, already setting his sights on new goals. However, for now, he can savor a season that saw him cement his status as one of the most dominant and exciting riders in the world.
