“Game Day Surprise: Key Player’s Sudden Injury Sends Shockwaves Through Lions vs. 49ers Showdown!”

The Detroit Lions had a surprise pop-up on their injury report at the quarterback position Friday afternoon. The Lions released their final injury report of the week following their final practice before they play the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game on Sunday.

They could be without one of their quarterbacks against the 49ers.

Hendon Hooker is questionable to play for the 49ers.

According to a statement by the Lions, rookie quarterback Hendon Hooker is listed as questionable to play for the 49ers due to a tooth injury. Per the Lions injury report, Hooker did not participate in Friday’s practice. Hooker was a full participant in the Lions first two practices of the week.

The Detroit Lions need a third QB active against the 49ers.

Having a third quarterback available to play in the NFC Championship Game is important for the Lions. The 49ers’ injuries to Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson in last season’s NFC Championship Game caused the league to change their rule on quarterbacks. NFL teams are now allowed to have an emergency quarterback on the 53-man roster that doesn’t count against the team’s 46-man game-day active roster.

The Lions are coming into the NFC Championship Game with starting quarterback Jared Goff and backup quarterback Teddy Bridgewater healthy. However, that could change quickly against a ferocious 49ers defense.

The Lions could elevate David Blough.

The Lions could elevate practice squad quarterback David Blough on Saturday so he can be available to play for the 49ers should Detroit rule out Hooker.
