“I gave everything. Every day, every season, every year,” Alaphilippe said, underscoring the dedication and passion he poured into his time with Soudal – Quick-Step. From his breakout performances in the Ardennes Classics to his emotional days in the yellow jersey during the Tour de France, Alaphilippe’s tenure with the team is one marked by unforgettable moments. Few will forget his back-to-back World Championship victories in 2020 and 2021, which solidified his status as one of the most accomplished riders of his generation.
However, Alaphilippe’s journey has not been without its difficulties. Injuries and crashes have at times overshadowed his brilliance, especially in recent years. His 2022 season, plagued by a series of crashes, including a horrific fall in Liège-Bastogne-Liège, was a reminder of the physical and mental toll professional cycling takes on riders. Alaphilippe has been open about the struggle to return to his best form after such setbacks, but his perseverance remains unwavering.
Looking back, Alaphilippe also praised the support he received from his teammates and staff at Soudal – Quick-Step. “The team always believed in me, even when things were tough,” he said, expressing his gratitude for the environment that allowed him to flourish. Whether celebrating victory or battling adversity, the camaraderie within the team has been a constant source of strength.
As Alaphilippe closes this chapter of his career, he does so with no regrets. “I’m proud of everything I achieved,” he said. With the next stage of his career on the horizon, Alaphilippe’s legacy as a rider who gave everything will continue to inspire fans and fellow competitors alike.
