Kruk and Kuip Send Special Birthday Message to Giants Hitting Coach Pat Burrell

San Francisco Giants hitting coach Pat Burrell received a special birthday surprise on his big day, courtesy of beloved Giants broadcasters Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper, affectionately known as Kruk and Kuip. The former teammates and longtime voices of the Giants took a moment during a recent broadcast to send a heartfelt message to Burrell, a key figure in the Giants’ coaching staff and a World Series hero.

Burrell, who turned 47, has been a pivotal presence in the Giants organization, both as a player and a coach. Kruk and Kuip, known for their playful banter and strong connections with the Giants family, shared fond memories of Burrell’s time as a player, praising his contributions during the Giants’ 2010 World Series run, in which he played an instrumental role.

“You know, Patty B, he just had that swagger,” Krukow remarked during the segment, a reference to Burrell’s leadership and confidence both on and off the field. Kuiper chimed in with a laugh, “Yeah, and he always had that perfect timing—whether it was a home run or showing up to the ballpark with that big grin of his.”

The birthday message was filled with admiration, as the broadcasters also credited Burrell’s transition to coaching, emphasizing the respect he’s earned among Giants hitters. “He’s been a huge influence on these young hitters, teaching them what it takes to compete every day,” said Kuiper.

Pat Burrell’s journey with the Giants began as a mid-season acquisition in 2010, and his impact was immediate, as his veteran presence helped propel the team to its first World Series title in San Francisco. After retiring, Burrell rejoined the organization as a hitting coach, where his experience and knowledge continue to shape the team’s offensive approach.

Kruk and Kuip’s tribute was the perfect touch to honor Burrell, underscoring not just his on-field accomplishments, but the lasting camaraderie that ties together the Giants family. As Burrell celebrated another year, it was clear that his impact in San Francisco extends far beyond the batter’s box.

The Giants, and their fans, are certainly grateful to have him in their corner—on and off the field.
