Kyle Shanahan: Purdy’s Playoff Prep On Point Despite 20-Day Break

As the 49ers gear up to face the Packers, quarterback Brock Purdy, well-rested from a regular-season finale break, won’t show signs of rust, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Shanahan reveals an intensive training regime, ensuring Purdy’s readiness after a playoff bye. The coach emphasizes strategic practices and extra sessions to maintain peak performance, expressing confidence in Purdy’s game-day form for the upcoming clash against the Packers.

“He hasn’t been on a bye week. We pushed the heck out of Brock. Meetings, practice,” Shanahan said. “He’s been here, he’s worked on his days off, we got two bigger practices last week than we do in a normal week, and Brock went out with the guys on Monday and did some things with them. Now we’re going to get two practices in with him again. . . . I don’t worry about that affecting Brock at all for Saturday.”

Coaches overseeing playoff-bound teams continually face the delicate task of maintaining their star players’ fitness while avoiding any potential decline in their performance due to inactivity. Shanahan expresses assurance in his decision regarding Purdy, confident that the balance struck will ultimately prove beneficial for the team’s playoff campaign.
