Netflix to Release Documentary on British Band Tindersticks

Netflix is set to unveil a new documentary centered on the acclaimed British band Tindersticks, known for their moody, orchestral sound and evocative lyricism. The streaming platform announced that the documentary, titled Tindersticks: A Life in Music, will offer an intimate exploration of the band’s three-decade journey through the alternative music landscape.

Directed by award-winning filmmaker Emily Parker, the documentary combines rare archival footage, behind-the-scenes moments, and in-depth interviews with band members, collaborators, and critics. It traces Tindersticks’ evolution from their early days in Nottingham in the early 1990s to their current status as one of the most distinctive and enduring acts in independent music.

The film also highlights the band’s collaborations with French director Claire Denis, whose films often feature Tindersticks’ haunting compositions. Commentary from notable figures in the music and film industries provides broader context on the band’s artistic significance and influence.

Tindersticks, led by frontman Stuart A. Staples, have released numerous critically acclaimed albums, including Curtains (1997), The Hungry Saw (2008), and No Treasure But Hope (2019). Their music is celebrated for its emotional depth, cinematic arrangements, and poetic narratives.

“Tindersticks: A Life in Music” will be available for streaming globally on Netflix starting June 20, 2025.
