Netflix to Release Documentary on Iconic Post-Punk Band Bauhaus in November
Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a brand-new documentary spotlighting the influential post-punk band Bauhaus, scheduled to premiere in November 2025. The film promises to delve deep into the gothic pioneers’ legacy, tracing their journey from the bleak landscapes of Northampton, England, to becoming icons of alternative music and underground culture.
Formed in 1978, Bauhaus—comprised of Peter Murphy, Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins—rose to prominence with their groundbreaking debut single Bela Lugosi’s Dead, a song widely regarded as the beginning of the gothic rock movement. With their haunting aesthetic, minimalist sound, and theatrical performances, the band carved out a distinctive space in the post-punk era that continues to influence countless artists today.
The Netflix documentary, directed by acclaimed filmmaker [Director’s Name TBA], will feature rare archival footage, never-before-seen concert clips, and intimate interviews with band members and contemporaries. It aims to shed light on the band’s artistic vision, their turbulent rise and fall, and their eventual reunions, offering fans both old and new a comprehensive look at their legacy.
Music critics and fans alike are already expressing high anticipation for the project, with many calling it long overdue. The film is expected to explore not just the music, but also the cultural impact Bauhaus had on fashion, identity, and the evolution of alternative music scenes across the globe.
Netflix continues its strong streak of music documentaries, following recent acclaimed releases about artists such as David Bowie and Siouxsie and the Banshees. With the addition of Bauhaus, the streaming platform further cements its role as a major curator of music history on screen.
The documentary will be available globally on Netflix in November 2025.
