Netflix to Release Documentary on Iconic Post-Punk Band Siouxsie and the Banshees
Netflix has officially announced the upcoming release of a new music documentary centered on the influential British band Siouxsie and the Banshees. The streaming giant continues its trend of exploring legendary music acts, with this latest project delving deep into the legacy of one of post-punk’s most groundbreaking groups.
Formed in 1976, Siouxsie and the Banshees emerged from the punk scene in London and quickly carved out their own unique identity, blending elements of gothic rock, experimental sounds, and dark lyrical themes. Led by frontwoman Siouxsie Sioux, the band became known for their distinctive style and genre-defying albums such as Juju (1981), Kaleidoscope (1980), and Peepshow (1988). Their music went on to influence a wide range of artists across genres, including The Cure, Radiohead, and even modern pop acts like Lorde.
According to early production notes, the documentary will include rare archival footage, previously unseen interviews with band members, and commentary from musicians and critics who were shaped by the band’s legacy. Netflix is reportedly working closely with surviving members of the group to ensure the documentary offers an authentic and comprehensive portrait of their evolution, controversies, and lasting cultural impact.
Though an exact release date has yet to be confirmed, the documentary is expected to premiere in late 2025. Fans and music historians alike are eagerly anticipating what promises to be a definitive look at one of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK’s post-punk movement.
The project adds to Netflix’s growing roster of music documentaries, which includes recent titles on The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and hip-hop’s golden age. With Siouxsie and the Banshees now in the spotlight, the platform continues to establish itself as a vital home for music history and storytelling.
