Netflix Set to Release Documentary on Legendary Band Simple Minds
Netflix has announced the upcoming release of a brand-new documentary chronicling the storied journey of the iconic Scottish rock band, Simple Minds. Known for their distinctive sound that helped shape the post-punk and new wave movements of the 1980s, Simple Minds rose to international fame with hits such as Don’t You (Forget About Me), Alive and Kicking, and Belfast Child.
The untitled documentary is set to offer an intimate look into the band’s nearly five-decade career, tracing their humble beginnings in Glasgow to their ascent as one of the most influential groups of their era. The film will feature rare archival footage, behind-the-scenes material, and exclusive interviews with founding members Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, as well as contributions from former bandmates, collaborators, and music industry figures.
Produced by Netflix in collaboration with UK-based production company Pulse Films, the documentary aims to shed light not only on the band’s creative process and legacy but also on the personal and professional challenges they faced along the way. Fans can expect a deep dive into the making of their most celebrated albums, the evolution of their sound, and the enduring cultural impact of their music.
In a press release, Jim Kerr expressed his enthusiasm for the project, saying, “It’s been a long and unforgettable journey for us, and we’re thrilled to be sharing our story with fans around the world through this documentary. There’s so much that’s never been told.”
The film is expected to premiere globally on Netflix later this year, with an official release date and trailer to be announced in the coming weeks.
This marks yet another addition to Netflix’s growing catalogue of music documentaries spotlighting legendary acts, following successful titles centered on the likes of David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, and Taylor Swift.
For fans of Simple Minds and lovers of music history alike, the upcoming release promises to be a compelling tribute to a band whose influence continues to resonate across generations.
