Nottingham Forest and Marseille Lock Horns in Epic Battle to Get These Borussia Dortmund Star as Nottingham seeks to improve it’s attacks.

Both Marseille and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement for a Loan Deals involving Gio Reyna, Both Teams Wants To Secure the Talented Midfielder’s Move from Borussia Dortmund

On Tuesday, reports suggested that the Premier League club is in discussions with Bundesliga giants to secure the transfer of the USMNT international to the City Ground. However, ESPN now reports that they face tough competition from Marseille, as the French club has also reached an agreement with Dortmund.

Both proposals reportedly include the option to convert the loan deal into a permanent transfer at the season’s conclusion. Additionally, it’s stated that two other undisclosed clubs have comparable agreements with Dortmund, intensifying the competition for Reyna’s transfer.

Dortmund is reportedly seeking a transfer fee of approximately $16 million to be incorporated into any loan arrangement. Reyna, under contract with Dortmund until June 2025, enlisted super agent Mendes in December. Despite being viewed as a promising talent in world soccer, the 21-year-old Tyne-and-Wear-born American has started only twice for Dortmund this season, making 11 substitute appearances, without registering a goal or assist in 13 total outings across competitions.

There’s a possibility that Reyna may follow in his father Claudio’s footsteps by joining English football. Claudio, a former midfielder, earned 87 and 28 appearances with Manchester City and Sunderland, respectively, becoming a fan favorite among both sets of supporters. Throughout January, Reyna has been linked with a departure from Germany, with interest from Sevilla, Real Sociedad, Wolves, and Aston Villa also in the mix.

In the wake of the USA’s 1-0 recent loss to Slovenia, head coach Gregg Berhalter showed his support to Reyna regarding his reasons for wanting to leave Dortmund this month.

‘Any professional who’s competitive wants to be on the field,’ Berhalter said.

Gio Reyna finds himself in a situation where he desires more playing time and is exploring alternative options, which is understandable. Notably, at the age of 17, he became the youngest American to debut in the Bundesliga in 2020. His involvement in the 2022 World Cup was limited to two substitute appearances amid a feud between the Reyna family and Berhalter. This dispute led to Berhalter being replaced by interim coaches for a significant part of the past year. However, Berhalter resumed coaching in September, and Reyna participated in four matches with the U.S. during October and November.
