Boyd Returns to Collingwood

Collingwood is excited to announce the return of Matthew Boyd, who has taken on the role of Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership Season.

Boyd brings a wealth of experience, having played 292 games for the Western Bulldogs and being part of the 2016 premiership team. He began his coaching career with Collingwood in 2018 as a Development Coach, later advancing to an Assistant Coach position overseeing the defense in 2020. After two seasons with the Pies, he moved to Perth to work as a backline assistant coach at Fremantle.

Brendon Bolton, Collingwood’s GM of Football, expressed a warm welcome to Boyd and his family, stating, “We’re thrilled to have Matthew back at our Club. He started his coaching journey here and has grown further under Justin Longmuir at Fremantle. With his successful playing career and six years of coaching experience, we’re excited to add him to our program. We also extend our welcome to his wife Kate and their three children.”

Boyd will join the team when pre-season training resumes in November.
