Remco Evenepoel demands more from teammates at the 2025 Tour de France: “The time is now
Belgian cycling star Remco Evenepoel has made it clear that he expects more from his teammates in the 2025 Tour de France as he continues his pursuit of the coveted yellow jersey. After a season of solid performances and growing maturity, Evenepoel is setting high standards for his team and leaving little room for complacency in his bid to secure a podium spot in one of cycling’s most prestigious races.
In an interview ahead of the 2025 Tour, Evenepoel emphasized the importance of cohesion and unwavering support from his squad, saying, “The time is now for us to show what we’re capable of. I’ve worked hard to get to this point, and I need my team to step up with me. There can be no excuses, no moments of doubt – we have to give everything if we want to win.”
Evenepoel, who recently demonstrated his all-around abilities with notable wins in the Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España, is increasingly seen as a legitimate contender for the Tour de France. However, the 24-year-old understands that success in the Tour requires more than just individual brilliance. Teamwork, strategy, and collective effort are crucial, and Evenepoel is adamant that his teammates must be fully committed to this goal.
“I know what I can do, but cycling is a team sport. I want my teammates to believe in themselves and in our plan,” Evenepoel added. “Every rider must be ready to sacrifice and support the mission. It’s not just about me, it’s about all of us working towards that common goal.”
Evenepoel’s rise to prominence has been meteoric, with victories in major one-day classics and stage races, but the Tour de France remains the ultimate challenge for any cyclist. He recognizes that the competition will be fierce, with seasoned riders like Tadej Pogacar, Jonas Vingegaard, and others also eyeing the yellow jersey. Yet, Evenepoel remains undeterred, confident that with the right team around him, the time is indeed now for him to make his mark on the Tour de France.
As the 2025 Tour draws closer, the cycling world will be watching closely to see if Evenepoel’s demand for unity and commitment from his team translates into a breakthrough performance at the grandest event in cycling.
