Ricky Carmichael Thinks Eli Tomac Can Break His Daytona SX Record at the 55th Annual Daytona Supercross
As the 55th Annual Daytona Supercross approaches on March 1, 2025, all eyes are on Eli Tomac as he aims to surpass Ricky Carmichael’s record of seven victories at this iconic event. Tomac has already secured six wins at Daytona, tying him with Carmichael’s previous record before he achieved his seventh win. Carmichael, often referred to as the Greatest of All Time (GOAT) in motocross, has expressed his support for Tomac’s pursuit of this milestone.
Carmichael, who has designed the Daytona Supercross course for 15 consecutive years, believes Tomac has the skill and determination to break the record. He stated, “I want to see him do it. I love seeing history being made, and he deserves it. I think he’s the one to beat my record. His style fits this track. He is a fantastic rider and a great ambassador of our sport.”
Tomac’s affinity for the Daytona track is well-documented. He has previously mentioned, “I love the track and the event. It’s a big deal to be going for six. It would be a very special thing.” His consistent performances at Daytona have solidified his reputation as a formidable competitor on this challenging course.
The Daytona Supercross is renowned for its demanding layout, combining elements of supercross and motocross, making it one of the most grueling races in the Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championship. Carmichael emphasized the race’s significance, stating, “In our sport, there is no one win you want to get more than Daytona Supercross. The reason is it’s just simply Daytona, plus it’s the most physical, mental, and toughest a rider faces each season.”
As the event draws near, fans and fellow riders alike are eager to see if Tomac can make history by securing his seventh Daytona victory, thereby surpassing Carmichael’s record. Regardless of the outcome, the 55th Annual Daytona Supercross promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and determination.
