The ongoing debate over who reigns supreme between Haiden Deegan and Jett Lawrence has captivated the motocross world, but according to Ricky Carmichael, the rivalry is still premature.
Speaking on the heated discussions surrounding the two young stars, Carmichael pointed out that Deegan and Lawrence have yet to actually compete against each other on the same track in the same class. While Jett Lawrence currently dominates the 450 class, Deegan is making waves in the 250 division. Despite this separation, tensions and fan debates continue to grow, fueling anticipation for a potential showdown in the future.
Carmichael, widely regarded as one of the greatest motocross riders of all time, expressed his eagerness to see the two finally face off when Deegan eventually moves up to the 450 class. “They haven’t even raced each other yet,” Carmichael noted, highlighting the premature nature of the rivalry. However, he acknowledged that both riders are excelling in their respective categories, making a future clash all the more exciting.
For now, Carmichael believes the real debate should be centered on Jett Lawrence and Chase Sexton. Both riders are already competing in the 450 class and have proven themselves as top contenders. Their battles on the track provide a more direct comparison, making their rivalry a more fitting topic for discussion.
Until Deegan steps up to the premier class, the motocross community can only speculate on how he will stack up against Lawrence. But one thing is certain—when Deegan and Lawrence finally meet on the same track, it will be a battle worth watching.
