San Francisco 49ers have extended the contract of one of their key player for an additional year

The San Francisco 49ers have secured right tackle Colton McKivitz for another year, extending his contract until the 2025 season. The deal, revealed by McKivitz’s agency, AMDG Sports, is worth $7 million for the additional year, with $4.5 million guaranteed. This extension comes as McKivitz enters the final season of his current two-year, $4.56 million contract, signed last year.

Colton McKivitz, initially drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, gradually made his mark over his first three seasons, appearing in five games. However, it was last season that he truly stepped into the spotlight, seizing the starting right tackle position after Mike McGlinchey’s departure in free agency.


During the entirety of the previous season, the 27-year-old McKivitz demonstrated his durability and reliability by starting all 17 regular-season games, contributing to 98% of San Francisco’s offensive snaps. His consistent performance extended into the postseason, where he remained a steadfast presence in all three playoff matchups.
