Tadej Pogačar has already set his sights on the 2025 Milano-Sanremo, revealing his intention to “try something different from previous years” in the prestigious one-day classic. Known for his aggressive racing style and versatility, Pogačar has been a key contender in past editions, but victory has eluded him so far. For the 2025 race, he is eager to adjust his tactics and approach the race with a fresh perspective.
Milano-Sanremo is notorious for its challenging dynamics, with over 290 kilometers of racing and a tense finish that often favors fast sprinters. Pogačar’s all-round ability makes him a perennial threat, particularly on the final climbs of the Cipressa and Poggio, where he has repeatedly launched attacks in past editions. Despite his powerful climbing, the Slovenian has been unable to shake off strong sprinters like Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert, who excel on the final flat sprint.
Reflecting on his previous performances, Pogačar suggested that his usual strategy of attacking on the Poggio may not be the only path to victory. “I’ve been close before, but Milano-Sanremo is a race that requires something special,” Pogačar said. “I want to try something different this time, maybe a new approach to when and where to make my move. I’ve learned a lot from the past few years.”
While he did not reveal specific details, Pogačar’s comments suggest he may attempt a more unpredictable race plan, potentially targeting earlier moves or waiting longer to time his attack perfectly. With his impressive skillset and adaptability, many will be watching closely to see how Pogačar executes his new strategy at the 2025 Milano-Sanremo, as he aims to add another monumental victory to his already illustrious career.
