Tadej Pogačar described his triumph at the 2024 Giro dell’Emilia as a dream come true, calling the victory one of the highlights of his season. After an intense year, Pogačar had set his sights on the historic one-day Italian race, admitting that winning the Giro dell’Emilia had been a long-standing goal.

“This race has been on my wish list for a long time,” Pogačar said after crossing the finish line. “The climb to San Luca is legendary, and the atmosphere here in Italy is incredible. To finally win here, after trying a few times before, is really special for me.”

The Slovenian cyclist, riding for UAE Team Emirates, was in top form as he powered through the final ascent of San Luca. In typical fashion, Pogačar launched an explosive attack in the closing stages, leaving his rivals behind. His performance reflected the aggressive, yet calculated riding style that has defined his career.

Reflecting on the race, Pogačar acknowledged that the tough competition made the victory even sweeter. “It was a really hard race. There were a lot of strong riders out there, and the team did an incredible job positioning me for the final climb,” he said.

For Pogačar, the win at Giro dell’Emilia is more than just another victory—it represents a culmination of hard work and resilience throughout the season. “To win here is a big achievement, and it gives me a lot of confidence heading into the final races of the season,” he added, hinting at his ambitions for the upcoming Lombardia and other autumn classics.

Pogačar’s latest victory once again cements his place among the top riders in the world, adding another prestigious title to his already impressive palmarès.
