TADEJ POGACAR: “WINNING ALL THREE GRAND TOURS IN ONE YEAR IS DOABLE BUT I RESPECT MY TEAMMATES”…Read more

Tadej Pogačar, one of the most talented and versatile cyclists of his generation, recently made waves with his bold statement about the possibility of winning all three Grand Tours—the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia, and Vuelta a España—in a single year. While many consider such a feat nearly impossible due to the physical and mental demands of competing in three back-to-back Grand Tours, Pogačar believes it is “doable” for a rider with the right preparation, but he was quick to add that respect for his teammates is a key consideration in any of his ambitions.

Speaking on the topic, Pogačar said, “Winning all three Grand Tours in one year is doable, but it would require perfect preparation, incredible form, and a lot of support. It’s something I think about, but it’s not just about me—it’s about the team.” He emphasized that while individual ambition is part of cycling, it’s impossible to succeed at that level without a strong support network. “In cycling, especially in Grand Tours, you can’t win alone. You need your teammates around you, working hard to put you in the best position. That’s something I deeply respect.”

Pogačar, who has already won two editions of the Tour de France and has been a major contender in the other Grand Tours, knows the challenges of these races well. Each one presents unique obstacles, from the high-altitude climbs of the Giro to the scorching heat of the Vuelta, and the pressure of being a marked man throughout the Tour de France. Yet, his belief in the possibility of a triple victory stems from his own resilience and adaptability, as well as the growth of his UAE Team Emirates squad.

However, Pogačar’s humility shines through as he continues to acknowledge the importance of teamwork. “At the end of the day, the team’s goals come first. I’m fortunate to have a great group of people supporting me, and I’ll always make sure we’re working together for the best possible results, whether that’s winning one Grand Tour or something more ambitious.”
