Team Honda HRC Releases Statement on Jett Lawrence’s Crash and Lack of Spare Bike at AUSX Open SX1 Final
The AUSX Open delivered plenty of thrills and spills, but one of the most dramatic moments occurred during the SX1 final when Jett Lawrence suffered a heavy crash, leaving his bike severely damaged. Team Honda HRC has since released an official statement addressing the incident and explaining the circumstances behind not having a spare bike available for the Australian star.
Jett Lawrence, who has been enjoying a stellar season and is considered one of the brightest talents in motocross, had a challenging night in Melbourne. The crash occurred midway through the SX1 final when Lawrence lost control in a rhythm section, sending him and his bike tumbling off the track. Although Lawrence escaped serious injury, his bike sustained extensive damage, rendering it unrideable for the remainder of the race.

In the aftermath of the crash, questions arose about why Team Honda HRC didn’t have a spare bike prepared for Lawrence, a standard practice in many top-level events. The team addressed these concerns in their official statement:
“Jett’s crash during the SX1 final was unfortunate, but we are relieved that he walked away without any serious injuries. Regarding the situation with the bike, the AUSX Open operates under unique logistical constraints compared to other championships. Due to freight limitations and event regulations, we were unable to bring a spare bike to Melbourne. While this is not an ideal scenario, it is one we were prepared to manage as part of the team’s contingency planning.”
The team emphasized their commitment to ensuring rider safety and fielding competitive equipment, adding that such challenges are part of the sport’s unpredictability.
Despite the setback, Lawrence remains focused on his upcoming races and continues to have the full support of his team. The young rider also commented on the incident, expressing gratitude to the fans and assuring them he’s ready to bounce back.
“It’s all part of racing. Sometimes things don’t go your way, but I’m just glad I’m okay. Huge thanks to Team Honda HRC and everyone who supported me through this. I’ll be back stronger.”
Lawrence’s crash was a stark reminder of the intense demands of supercross racing. With his resilience and the backing of Team Honda HRC, fans can expect him to return to form quickly as the season progresses.
Jett Lawrence’s crash and the absence of a spare bike at the AUSX Open highlighted the unique challenges faced by international teams competing in such events. While unfortunate, the incident underscores the sport’s unpredictable nature and the importance of adaptability in overcoming unexpected hurdles. Fans and the motocross community alike will be eagerly watching to see how Lawrence and Team Honda HRC recover from this incident.
