Spurs, but thinks a possible switch to Bayern Munich would be ‘unbelievable’, as he told Sky Sports (06/01/24 at 2:25 pm).
Eric Dier initially moved to White Hart Lane in 2014 when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge and began to establish himself as a key player.
He played various roles during his time at the club, including playing at right-back during the early years, then long periods in the middle of the park, and also at center-back.
But after the departure of Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris, it seems as though another long-serving player could be leaving Spurs.
Eric Dier is in talks with Bayern Munich.
“I think you have to remember how good of a servant he has been to Spurs,” said Dawson.
“It’s just the way that Ange plays. Ange plays with pace, and Eric isn’t that kind of player. He has played center midfield and right back.
“It’s an unbelievable move for him. If you are Ange, you get him off your wage bill.”
Eric Dier is getting back into the England team.
Understandably so, Gareth Southgate hasn’t picked Dier for England’s squads since last season, and that will only continue if he stays at Spurs.
It’s pretty clear that Postecoglou isn’t going to give him the minutes, so he needs to go and earn them elsewhere.
If a club like Bayern is willing to offer him that, then it’s something that he simply can’t turn down, and it could well fast-track him back into the England set-up.
Plus, it would be a step up in quality, level, and pressure because there is big pressure on Thomas Tuchel’s side to not only win a 12th straight Bundesliga title but also the European Cup.
