Wout van Aert Confident Ahead of CX World Championship Despite Health Concerns
Belgian cycling star Wout van Aert is set to compete in the upcoming Cyclocross (CX) World Championship, expressing confidence in his form despite recent health setbacks. The 29-year-old faced illness earlier in the season, which forced him to alter his racing schedule and withdraw from key events. However, he remains optimistic about his chances on the world stage.
Van Aert’s cyclocross season has been shorter than usual, with fewer races in preparation for the championship. In December, he was forced to sit out the Mol race due to illness, raising concerns about his readiness for the demanding competition. Despite these challenges, he has demonstrated remarkable resilience, delivering strong performances in the races he has participated in. His dominant victory in Dendermonde, where he powered through tough, muddy conditions to finish over a minute ahead of his rivals, showcased his world-class ability.
Acknowledging the importance of balancing cyclocross with his road racing ambitions, van Aert has approached this season strategically. His primary focus remains on the spring classics, including the Tour of Flanders and Paris-Roubaix. This means his participation in cyclocross has been more selective, ensuring he remains in top condition for both disciplines.
“I feel good despite the setbacks earlier this season. It hasn’t been ideal preparation, but I’m confident in my form heading into the World Championship,” van Aert stated in a recent interview. He is aware of the fierce competition, particularly from rivals like Mathieu van der Poel, but remains determined to fight for the title.
With his undeniable talent, experience, and tactical intelligence, van Aert is expected to be a serious contender in the championship. Fans eagerly await his performance, hoping to see another thrilling display of his cyclocross prowess. Despite health concerns, his confidence and determination suggest he will be a force to reckon with on race day.
